redwhiteblue    Struggling to find a delicious dessert for Fourth of July? Maybe it is time to have a healthy dessert. Try making Red, White, and Blue Parfaits! They sound delicious, don’t they? The parfaits consist of strawberries/raspberries, blueberries, and vanilla yogurt in the middle. This is a simple dessert to make, but fits in well with the theme of Fourth of July. If you want to end your search for a delicious dessert for Fourth of July, use this recipe! Follow the guidance and instructions below!


  • 1  8 ounce carton of vanilla low-fat yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract or 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/2   8 ounce container of frozen light whipped dessert topping, thawed
  • cups of fresh raspberries and/or cut-up fresh strawberries
  • 3 cups of fresh blueberries


  1. In a large bowl, stir together yogurt and almond extract or vanilla. Fold in whipped topping.
  2. To serve, in six 12-ounce glasses or dessert dishes, alternate layers of the berries with layers of the yogurt mixture. Cover and chill for up to an hour. Makes 6 servings.

                 Time to celebrate the Fourth of July! Having a party or gathering with family or friends? Having a hard decision on what to serve? Here’s something new to try: Cherry-Barbecue Pork Ribs! Sound delicious, right? Besides having the old tradition of regular sauce, these ribs are served with a cherry-barbecue sauce. The sauce allows for the ribs to have a different flavor. Unfortunately, my family has not been privileged enough to try this yet, but for Fourth of July, I will definitely encourage my family to make this recipe. It not only looks delicious, but I am sure it taste delicious as well! If the Cherry-Barbecue Pork Ribs interest you, follow the recipe below!


   – 4 pounds of bone-in-country-style pork ribs

   –  1/2 cup of orange juice

   – 2 teaspoons of Liquid Smoke, optional

    – 1 teaspoon of garlic powder

                                                     – 1/4 teaspoon of pepperSmiley%20Face_ThumbsUp

                                                       – 2/3 cup of barbecue sauce

                                                      – 1/3 cup of cherry preserves

                                                    – 1 tablespoon of molasses


1) Place the ribs in a 3-quart. microwave-safe dish. In a small bowl, combine the orange juice, Liquid Smoke if desired, garlic powder, and pepper; pour over ribs. Cover and microwave on high for 15-20 minutes or until meat is tender.

2) Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the barbecue sauce, preserves, and molasses. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat; simmer, uncovered for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3) Drain the ribs. Moisten a paper towel with cooking oil; using long-handled tongs, lightly coat the grill rack.

4) Grill ribs, covered, over medium heat for 8-10 minutes or until browned, basting with sauce and turning occasionally. Then enjoy the delicious Cherry-Barbecue Pork Ribs!

Mother’s Day is a great day to bake their favorite dessert! As long as the mothers do not need to do the baking or clean up the mess, they will love the dessert! On Mother’s Day, my sister, father, and I always bake her favorite cake, German Chocolate Cake. My mother absolutely loves German Chocolate Cake, so every year for Mother’s Day we bake the cake to show our love and appreciation for her. Even the little things like baking her favorite desserts, mothers will appreciate. Begin the tradition of providing the love and appreciation for Mother’s Day with their favorite dessert! Follow below for the recipe of the delicious, rich, and creamy German Chocolate Cake.


   – 3 cups of white sugar

–  2   3/4 cups of all-purpose flour

        –  1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder

– 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa power

– 2   1/4 teaspoons of baking soda

– 2  1/4 teaspoons of baking powder

– 1 teaspoon of salt

– 1   1/2 cups of milk

   – 3/4 cup of vegetable oil

  – 3 eggs

  – 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

   – 1  1/2 cups of hot water

Frosting Ingredients: 

   – 1 cup of evaporated milk

    – 1 cup of brown sugar  

     – 3 egg yolks

– 1/2 cup of butter

– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

– 1 cup of chopped pecans

  – 1   1/3 cups of flaked coconut


1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line the bottom and sides of a deep 14×17- inch baking sheet with parchment or waxed paper.

2) Sift sugar, flour, 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in a large bowl. Transfer to a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment; whisk dry ingredients together on low.

3) Whisk milk, eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract together in a separate medium bowl. Add to the flour mixture and mix at low speed until well incorporated, about 5 minutes.

4) Gradually add hot water while the mixer is on low speed until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared baking sheet.

5) Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 1 hour.

6) While the cake is cooling, mix together the ingredients for the frosting.

7) In a large saucepan, combine the evaporated milk, brown sugar, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla extract. Cook over low heat, constantly stirring until thick.

8) Remove from heat and stir in the pecans and coconut. Let it cool to room temperature before spreading on the cake. Then enjoy the delicious, creamy German Chocolate Cake!

Mother’s day is a day about appreciation and love. It is a day to show our love in return for our mother’s with everything they do. My family tradition for celebrating Mother’s Day usually starts with making breakfast in bed for my mother. My sister and I always make her favorite breakfast, french toast with fruit, and coffee. Mothers always appreciate having breakfast in bed for change, especially when they do not need to make it. The recipe my sister and I use for the french toast is very delicious. If anyone wants to start a new tradition of making their mother breakfast in bed for Mother’s Day, follow the simple recipe below of French toast.


   – 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour

  – 1 cup of milk

                                                    – 1 pinch of salt      

                                               – 3 eggs

                                                 – 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon

                                                   – 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

                                                     – 1 tablespoon of white sugar

   – 12 thick slices of bread

   – fresh, cut strawberries and blueberries


1) Measure flour into a large mixing bowl. Slowly whisk in the milk. Then whisk in the salt, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sugar until smooth.

2) Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium heat.

3) Soak bread slices in mixture until saturated. Cook bread on each side until golden brown. Serve hot!

4) Put the fresh strawberries and blueberries either on top or beside the french toast, then enjoy ! 

*Also, do not forget the coffee!*

An Easter traditional dinner or dessert for the Polish is a type of Easter bread called Babka. Babka is an Easter Bread that the Polish indulge on at Easter. The Polish Easter Babka celebrates the return of the egg to the diet after the strictures of the Lenten fast. The only reason I know what Babka stands for is because I am Polish. For our Easter dinners and desserts, we always have Babka as an option. It is extremely delicious! It is very nutty, due to the different kinds of nuts inside of the bread. I definitely recommend this as a try for your Easter dinner or dessert. If you are willing to take the risk of trying Babka, follow the recipe below!


– 1 cup of milk

– 3   1/3 cups of all-purpose flour

– 2 packages of active dry yeast

– 1/4 cup of lukewarm water

– 2/3 cup of sugar

– 2 teaspoons of salt

                                                  – 15 large egg yolks

                                                    – 1 teaspoon of vanilla

                                                   – 1/4 teaspoon of almond extract

                                               – 1/2 cup of melted butter

                                                  – 3/4 cup of candied citrus rind

– 1/2 cup of chopped almond

– 1/3 cup of light or dark raisins


   1.  Scald milk and pour into a large bowl or stand mixer bowl fitted with the paddle attachment. Add 3/4 cup of the flour, mixing well, Cool.

   2.  Dissolve yeast in the lukewarm water for about 5 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon of the sugar and let stand for 5 minutes. Add to cooled milk mixture, combing well. Cover and let rise until doubled.

  3.  In a separate large bowl, combine salt and egg yolks, and beat until thick and lemon-colored, about 5 minutes. Add remaining sugar and extracts, mixing well. Combine egg mixture with risen milk mixture , beating thoroughly.

  4.  Add remaining flour; Using a wooden spoon, beat vigorously for 10 minutes or 7 minutes by machine with the paddle attachment. Add butter and continue to beat an additional 7-10 minutes.

  5.  Beat in candied rind, almonds, and raisins. Dough will be sticky. Scrape down sides, cover with greased plastic wrap and let rise until doubled in the same bowl. Punch down dough and let it rise again until doubled.

  6.  Generously coat a 12-inch fluted Babka pan or tube pan with cooking spray. Punch down dough and using slightly dampened hands, transfer to prepared pan.  Cover and let rise 1 hour or until the dough fills the pan. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

  7.  Bake about 50 minutes or until instant-read thermometer registers 190 degrees or toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes and then invert onto a rack to let it cool completely. Leave plain or dust with confectioner’s sugar, if desired.

      Do you always have the traditional Easter ham for dinner? Is it tasty, delicious or tangy? Try a new recipe of tangy, honey glazed ham ! This is the recipe that my family uses, making a delicious dinner for Easter. Once you try this recipe, you will never want to go back to the old ham style. I absolutely love ham, especially when it’s glazed! This recipe is delicious, making me crave ham every day! Easter should be celebrated with a good, tasty ham! Below are the ingredients and directions to create this wonderful taste of sensation, ham! 


– 1 (10 pound) full-cooked, bone- in ham

– 1   1/4 cups of dark brown sugar

– 1/3 cups of pineapple juice

– 1/3 cup of honey

– 1/3 large orange , juiced and zested

– 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard

– 1/4 teaspoons of ground cloves


   1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place ham in a roasting pan.

   2. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, pineapple juice, honey, orange juice, orange zest, Dijon mustard, and ground cloves.

   3. Bring to a boil , reduce heat, and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. (set aside)

   4. Bake ham in preheated oven uncovered for 2 hours.

   5. Remove ham from oven and brush with glaze.

   6. Bake for an additional 30 to 45 minutes, brushing ham with glaze every 10 minutes.

     St. Patrick’s Day is a celebration of fun, festivities, and food! It is commonly known for beer, corn beef and cabbage, and Irish Potatoes! My family tradition for St. Patrick’s Day is Irish Potatoes and Green Ice Cream Jello. I absolutely love Irish Potatoes and could eat a thousand in just one day. My other favorite dessert dish is the green ice cream jello my mother makes. It is very delicious and simple, bringing in the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. These two delicious desserts are very simple and easy to make. Start a new tradition for St. Patrick’s Day with Irish Potatoes and Green Ice Cream Jello. Follow the recipe below, if you want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Irish Potatoes:


–  1/4 cup of softened butter

– 4 ounces of cream cheese, softened (use regular cream cheese, not whipped)

– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract                                        

– 1 (16 ounce) package of confectioner’s sugar

– 7 ounces of sweetened flaked coconut  ( 2  1/2 cups)

– 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon


1) In a large bowl, cream together the butter and cream cheese

2) Add vanilla and confectioner’s sugar

3) Beat until the mixture forms a bowl

4) Stir in coconut with a spoon

5) Roll the mixture between your hands to form small potato-shaped candies

6) Place the cinnamon in a shallow dish and roll the balls in it

7) Place the balls on a cookie sheet and let them chill for about 1 hour or until firm

8) Then, enjoy the delicious Irish Potatoes!

Green Ice Cream Jello: 


– 2 packages of jello (green)

– 1 package of knox unflavored gelatin

– 4 cups of boiling water

– 1 quart of nonfat vanilla ice cream


1) Mix together both packages of jello, gelatin, and boiling water to dissolve.

2) Add 1 quart of vanilla ice cream; stir until dissolved.

3) Pour into 9 x 13 glass dish

4) Refrigerate over night, cut and serve! The ice cream will float to the top of the jello.

( The total time to prepare this dish is ten minutes, besides refrigerating over night)

5) Enjoy the exquisite Green Ice Cream Jello!
